It depends on how you ride: VELAR 2.0 – Gear Drive for all-terrain and maximum power, BLACK Carve 4 – Street for carving and commuting on the road, Challenger 2.0 – Belt Drive Street as a light kicktail board for everyday use and ZENO for travel. The ONSRA Buyer's Guide 2026 compares all current boards.

The VELAR 2.0 – Gear Drive is ONSRA's all-terrain flagship: 200 mm pneumatic tires (AT), 1036 Wh battery, 65 km/h and a 220 kg maximum load. The VELAR 2.0 S (Suspension Trucks) has the same drive and battery, plus CNC-machined aluminium ONSRA Suspension Trucks and 200 × 75 mm pneumatic tires (20 kg). Lighter AT options are the BLACK Carve 4 – AT (200 mm tires, 15.8 kg) and the Challenger 2.0 – Belt Drive All Terrain (155 mm HOTA tires, 10.1 kg).

Which ONSRA board is suitable for beginners?
There is no low-powered beginner model – every ONSRA board reaches at least 45 km/h. Beginners should start in the gentlest mode and wear full protective gear. With the ONSRA NX remote you set modes, braking and acceleration; on the VELAR 2.0, acceleration and regenerative braking are adjustable from 10–100 %. The Challenger 2.0 – Belt Drive Street (9.9 kg, 50 km/h standard) is the lightest and easiest to carry.

What is the difference between gear drive, belt drive and hub motor?
A gear drive transfers motor power through enclosed gears, a belt drive through toothed belts and pulleys, and a hub motor sits directly inside the wheel. ONSRA uses gear drive on the VELAR 2.0 and BLACK Carve 4 and describes the BLACK Carve 4 gear drive as instant torque, quiet power delivery and low maintenance. With belt drive (Challenger 2.0) you can change the gearing with different pulleys, and belts are available as spare parts. Hub motors (ZENO) keep the board compact with no external drivetrain.
